Tasting - "Atlas Cumbres Torrontes"

Photo:
Name: Atlas Cumbres Torrontes
Variety: Torrontes
Region: N/A
Country: Argentina
Year: N/A
Price: $5.95
Shop/wine critic/ winery review: Vintage Wine Cellar/ Amanda/ Yellow colour with greenish nuances. Very intense aroma of fresh grapes, flower perfume and mature peaches. Fresh in the mouth. Light and easy to drink. Ideal with seafood, Thai and Chinese food.
Your review: Yet another white wine that was a lot more pungent and bitter than the previous white wine. It had a very distinct honey smell that I picked out immediately and honestly this was the first wine I could easily pick out this particular smell. It also had small doses of peach scent kinda like women's perfume or lotion. The wine was surprisingly dry and tart. The tart taste of this wine made my face instantly pucker and cringe at the site of the swirling the wine in my mouth. Not my favorite white wine due to the lack of flavors due to the tartness on the palate and overpowering aftertaste.

Tasting - "Avery Quinn Chardonnay"

Photo:
Name: Avery Quinn Chardonnay
Variety: Chardonnay
Region: California
Country: United States
Year: 2011
Price: $6.95
Shop/wine critic/winery: Vintage Wine Cellar/ Amanda/ The 2011 vintage marks a return to form for this great value Chardonnay. The aromas feature creamy, mellow, golden apple, pineapple, fresh butter and a touch of vanilla. Then rich, ripe, flavors of yellow pear, pineapple, fresh apple, cream and buttered toast swell up and fill your mouth before a juicy, apple and caramel inflected finish makes your mouth water.
Your Review: This white floral wine had the usual characteristics of sweet and thick texture. It tasted like a citrus lime with scents of orange, pears, and apples. This was a great enjoyable start to the wine tasting, and at the end of this tasting this was my first purchase at the vintage wine cellar for the second weekly dinner/food pairing.

Tasting - "Bellafina Pink Moscato"

Photo:
Name: Bellafina Pink Moscato
Variety: Moscato
Region: N/A
Country: Italy
Year: N/A
Price: $9.95
Shop/wine critic/winery review: Vintage Wine Cellar/ Mike/ A blend of Moscato and Rabosos grapes it has a pale rose color, notes of red berries, with the characteristic and fragrant bouquet and palate that is typical of the Moscato grape.
Your Review: I might be biased on this wine because I am a huge fan of all Moscatos. It was a tasty white wine that was very floral and sugary with tastes of light melon and sweet sensation. I am glad this wine was the last wine due to this wine lingering on my palate, which made me want to ask another glass. Again I am biased but this wine lived up to its Moscatos name.

Tasting - "Weinert Carascal 2008"

Photo:
Name: Weinert Carascal 2008
Variety: 40% Malbec 35% Cabernet Sauvignon 25% Merlot
Region: N/A
Country: Argentina
Year: 2008
Price: $13.95
Shop/wine critic/winery review: Vintage Wine Cellar/ Mike/ Aged for two years in cask, the 2008 Carrascal is a blended wine. It has a rustic blackberry, scorched earth and leather-scented bouquet with touches of pressed flowers. The palate is well-balanced with crisp tannins, expressive black tarry fruit and a Bordeuaz-like finish. Drink now-2016
Your Review: This wine had a terrible smell of some sort of vinegar or hospital rubbing alcohol, which was an immediate turn-off. It had a very aggressive and dry taste that didn't help with the smell. Not many things were appealing about this wine, and I do not recommend this wine to anyone that wants to enjoy a fruity or smooth finish.

Tasting - "Santa Julia Malbec"

Photo:
Name: Santa Julia Malbec
Variety: Malbec
Region: N/A
Country: Argentina
Year: 2012
Price: $8.95
Shop/wine critic/winery review: Vintage Wine Cellar/ Mike/ The nose is full of mellow raspberry and cherry, while the palate is fleshy and round, with blackberry and a touch of raisin. Plump, not edgy, and ready to drink, with a coffee and mocha notes on the finish.
Your Review: This was a decent red wine that was full of fruity flavor of dark berries and a hint of cherries. It had a slow start but a powerful punch at the end. This wine ended up being a little brand  in retrospect to the others, but this would go great along with a more spicy chicken or some light rice.

Tasting - " Gougenheim Torrontes"

Photo:
Name: Gougenheim Torrontes
Variety: Torrontes
Region: N/A
Country: Argentina
Year: 2012
Price: $9.95
Shop/wine critic/winery review: Vintage Wine Cellar/Mike/ The 2012 Torrontes comes from Chilecito in La Rioja. It has a light floral nose with touches of lemon peel and nectarine. The palate is crisp and taut, showing far more vivacity and fruit that the nose implied, finishing with flourish of apricot and white peach. Drink now.
Your Review: This white wine also had a floral scent to it kind of similar to the last wine. The impression it made was a tasty apple that lingers on the palate with a very smooth transition from the mouth to the throat.

Tasting - "Santa Julia Pinot Grigio"

Photo:
Name: Santa Julia Pinot Grigio
Variety: Pinot Grigio
Region: N/A
Country: Argentina
Year: N/A
Price: $8.95
Shop/wine critic/winery review: Vintage Wine Cellar/Mike/ Light and clean, which compared to other Argentine Pinot Grigiois is not something to dismiss. Feels solid and punchy, with orange and mango flavors. Has nice overall clarity and balance, with a citrus finish.
Your Review: This beautiful white wine has a very floral and earthy smell that made this wine automatically appealing to me. Once this wine hit the palate and swirled in my mouth it was very strong and sour and I was making faces as the wine went down. This just solidified the strong finish that this wine had. This wine was an average white wine with what I thought had characteristics of red wines.
